Krakatoa Mountain; An Excited Adventure Tourism in Lampung

Krakatoa Mountain is one of the most active volcanic mountains in the world, and did you know, this mountain is located in Indonesia, specifically in South of Lampung Regency, Lampung Province. Although it is an active volcanic mountain, Krakatoa Mountain is still included as a tourism spot in South of Lampung regency. There are many tourism packages that are offered by local tourism agencies if you want to visit this mountain and enjoy other interesting spots around this mountain.

Krakatoa Mountain is only 813 m (2.667 feet) and is located around Canti village (Canti is located at Sumatra mainland, the nearest place to reach Ktakatoa Mountain is via this village’s small-semi conventional port, the locals call it as “Dermaga Canti”), South of Lampung. The last explosion was in 1883 in which, based on trusted source, the explosion had killed almost 36.000 life. What people see today is the “child” of the mountain itself, because the 1883 last explosion had destroyed its main mountain. If you come from Java, you can reach this mountain by getting to the ferry boat from Merak to Baka Heni. The fee of ferry boat is only IDR 18.000. When you have arrived at Bakau Heni port, you can rent a public transportation that will pick you up to Canti small port, it is around IDR 300.000/group and 1 group consists of 6 persons at the maximum standard. But if you want to get a faster access, you can contact many travel agencies to Krakatoa Mountain that also includes the transportation facility for visitors from Bakau Heni to Canti small port, each package is varied and averagely, the cheapest one is around IDR 350.000/visitor. The trip from Bakau Heni to Canti small port will take about an hour.

Once you arrive at Canti small port, you will be picked up by agents to the small boat to Krakatoa Mountain. Almost all travel agencies will get a transit to Sebesi Island, the nearest small island to Krakatoa Mountain. Here, in Sebesi Island, you can spend your time to enjoy this beautiful small island. You can get snorkeling or the simplest way is that enjoying the sunset with Krakatoa Mountain becomes the main background, so cool!

Snorkeling in Sebesi Island is so good because the coral reef is still preserved well, so, it won’t disappoint everyone who really loves snorkeling. And finally, the next day, you can visit Krakatoa Mountain. For your information, Krakatoa Mountain is included as a natural preservation area which the total area reaches 13.605 hectares and up until today, this natural preservation area is guarded and managed by the Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA) of Lampung Province. The mountain is not really high indeed, but it is so challenging because you will meet volcanic sands everywhere and you should climb those sands. You can take selfies/wefies there and post it into your social media accounts (I can’t ensure to you whether your mobile service provider has a 3G or 4G coverage here or not hehe). You can spend your day here at Krakatoa Mountain from morning until around 3 PM. It’s a great adventure to visit Krakatoa Mountain because you can see the crater from the nearest area (although it is not really near actually because you will be restricted by fence that is placed around the dangerous area of the crater). The sunset landscape in Krakatoa is also beautiful and it is suitable to be used as a brilliant time to take some photos on your gadget!
