If you are the one who stays in
Indonesia and plans to spend your holiday in Lampung, Mengkudu island can be
your brilliant option. Mengkudu island is located in South of Lampung region.
It is specifically located near to Rajabasa village. If you come from Java Island, you can simply reach
this island by getting to ferry boat from Merak to Bakau Heni. After you arrive
to the port, you can take a public transportation to Kalianda, the capital city
of South of Lampung. The public transportation’s color is yellow. All of them
will stop at Pasar Impres Kalianda. From the market, you can continue your
traveling by getting to another public transportation to Canti village. The
color of public transportation is blue. You need to tell the driver to drop you
off at Pulau Mengkudu spot. After you arrive on the spot, you can go to the
island by getting to the traditional boats operated by residents there. It doesn’t
take too much cost anyway, you just need to spend Rp.50.000,00/person for round trip
cost (to and from the island,
it
is about $4.00 in total). When you arrive
on the spot after being picked by boat, you will have additional charge for
sanitary guards there, it is Rp.5.000,00/person. So, in total, you only need for
about Rp.60.000,00 to go to this island.
1. Mengkudu island (Right)
Mengkudu Island is only separated by a
tinny line of sands from Sumatra main land. When high tide comes, you can still
cross the coast line to Mengkudu island just by walking. The sands are quite pristine
and pure, dominated by white smooth sands. The water is clean and the air is so
fresh, it can be said that it is the right traveling spot for those of you who
want to avoid any hectic place and hectic daily work! At this island,
you can go bath, snorkeling, or even just to
sit and enjoy the wonderful scenery owned by this beautiful island. There has
been many small stalls managed by local residents. They sell food and
beverages if you want to buy foods there. You can take pictures and selfies
here. The last boat will be available until about 5 o’clock.
