Another
exotic tourism spot in South of Lampung besides Mengkudu Island and Canti beach
is Way Kalam waterfall. This waterfall is located at Way Kalam village, South
of Lampung regency, Lampung Province, Indonesia. This waterfall is near to my
hometown; Gayam village. It is not difficult to reach this tourism spot. If you
come from Java island, you can get into ferry ship from Merak to Bakau Heni.
From Bakau Heni port, you can get into public transportation (the color is
yellow) and stop at Gayam village. From Gayam, you can continue your trip by
getting into “Ojek” or taxibike for about 20 minutes. The taxibike will drop
you off at a footpath to Way Kalam village, the cost is only about IDR
20.000-IDR 30.000 from Gayam.
How
is the view around Way Kalam waterfall? It’s so beautiful. The stream of
waterfall is huge enough and the water is so cold because it comes from a fresh
nature of Rajabasa Mountain. To enter this tourism spot, you need to pay for entrance
fee. The fee is only IDR 10.000/visitor. You can get bath there with your
friends while enjoy the surrounding landscape. This waterfall has 40 meters
height.
Because
Way Kalam waterfall is still as a pilot tourism project, the facility has not
been fully completed, but the residents have done very well to accelerate the
development of facility at Way Kalam waterfall. The improved facilities are
toilet, parking area, local lodging, souvenir and many more. The efforts of Way
Kalam residents are also shown by their seriousness to build a digital
marketing for Way Kalam village.
I
myself, personally feel so lucky to ever cooperate with people there to build
Way Kalam waterfall to become the best tourism spot in South of Lampung. I ever
had a research there in 2015 and my impression toward the seriousness of
